Every Xbox one disc works with a series x. Honestly I forgot the One even had exclusive Kinect games. and to be fair the disc works, just not the title itself lol :-) Yes. What do you think this is, a PS5 trying to play a PS2 game ;-)

That being said you wont have to buy the upgrade if you don't want to, you will still be able to play the Xbox One version on your series X as you currently are. If the real Series X version (coming 2021) is crossplay with Xbox One version. Odds are, yes, but there is still no official confirmation yet. If Series X and PS5 are crossplay.
